BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England women's soccer team has been picked to finish third in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) preseason poll. TCCC Commissioner Gregg Kaye made the announcement this afternoon.
Thirteen of the league's 14 head coaches ranked Endicott College in the top spot, giving the Gulls 195 total points. Endicott won the conference title in 2009, a year removed from a streak of five straight titles between 2003 and 2007.
Roger Williams University garnered 172 total points to take second in the poll, while the Nor'easters occupied third place in the voting results with 159 points. Gordon College (4th) received the lone remaining first-place nod.
After back-to-back 15-win seasons and the departure of long-time coach Doug Biggs, UNE turns to new head coach
Heather Davis and six returning starters to guide Big Blue in 2010. The Nor'easters kick-off the season September 4 (4 p.m.) at home against Maine Maritime Academy.
