BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England placed 52 student-athletes on The Commonwealth Coast Conference academic all-conference team released by TCCC Commissioner Gregg Kaye late last week. With 52 awardees, the Nor'easters topped the next highest total in the TCCC by 10.
The academic all-conference team is comprised of student-athletes who are a starter or significant reserve in sports that the TCCC conducts a championship or invitational, and have attained at least sophomore status with an overall minimum grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
A total of 379 student-athletes were named to the 2010 academic all-conference team.
"We are very proud to lead the way in the TCCC with 52 academic all-conference selections," remarked UNE Director of Athletics Kim Allen. "This underscores our commitment to academic excellence across the board in our athletics program."
