BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England women's lacrosse player Tara Geraghty of the University of New England has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending March 14. TCCC Sports Information Coordinator Matt Pettinicchi made the announcement this afternoon.

Geraghty, a junior goalkeeper from Barrington, R.I., recorded 15 saves in the Nor'easters' 8-6 win over Wellesley College on Saturday. Her 15 stops on 21 shots on goal translated into an impressive .714 save percentage.

UNE defeated the Blue Pride for the first time in school history. Last year, the Nor'easters suffered a 20-3 setback to Wellesley.
