BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England men's basketball player Anthony Johnson has been chosen The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 31. TCCC Sports Information Coordinator Matt Pettinicchi made the announcement this morning.

Johnson concluded the stretch with his best performance, dropping a career-high 30 points on Western New England College to help the Nor'easters complete a perfect 3-0 week (2-0 in TCCC road contests). For the three games, he averaged 23.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.7 steals, while shooting 48 percent (23-of-48) from the field and 40 percent (8-for-20) from long range. The sophomore from Austin, Texas, also scored 20 points in wins over Regis College and Husson University.

This is the second TCCC Player of the Week nod Johnson has received this season -- the first coming back in November.
