The field hockey team reacts as the bracket is revealed and they see their next opponent

INDIANAPOLIS -- The University of New England field hockey team will travel to play The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) for a first-round game when the 2010 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship begins Wednesday (Nov. 10). Start time for the match in Ewing, N.J. is slated for 2 p.m. The NCAA Division III Field Hockey Committee announced the pairings this morning.

The Nor'easters (13-6) made it into the field of 24 after their 3-0 victory over New England College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Championship final on Saturday. The win marked the first time in the program's 9-year history that Big Blue won the league crown and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

Winners of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), the Lions are back in the NCAA field one year removed from a string of 28-straight trips to the National Tournament, since its inception back in 1981. TCNJ has long been a contender on the national stage, with nine NCAA titles to its name -- the last coming in 1999 -- and four runner-up finishes. The Lions hold a 16-4 (6-0 NJAC) overall mark on the season, and clinched the automatic berth from the NJAC with a 2-1 win over Rowan University in the regular-season finale.

The UNE/TCNJ winner will advance to square off against regional host Skidmore College (18-1) in the second round.
