UNE's Burch named National Man of the Year

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England men's assistant lacrosse coach Charlie Burch was recently honored as US Lacrosse Man of the Year. The formal announcement and presentation took place Jan. 16 at the US Lacrosse Convention held in Baltimore, Md.

Burch, a long-time head coach at nearby Kennebunk High School and Cape Elizabeth High School, was previously recognized as 2009 Maine Man of the Year by US Lacrosse. Burch, who is in his first season as the Nor'easters' top assistant, won 289 games as a high school head coach.

"I view this as sort of a lifetime achievement award," Burch said. "It is an honor to be recognized for my years of service and volunteerism with US Lacrosse."
