BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England women's lacrosse team was recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as one of 62 Division III Academic Squads. Teams were honored for maintaining a collective grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2008-2009 academic year.

Four individuals were also recognized by the IWLCA for excellence in the classroom. Recent graduates Amanda Barker and Erica Johnson, as well as current seniors Emily Harvey and Kim Bilodeau.

Juniors and seniors with a GPA of at least 3.5 were among those honored. A total of 407 student-athletes from 152 institutions across all three divisions were named to the Academic Squads.
