The Nor'easters earned CSCAA Scholar All-America status for the 10th straight time
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England swim team has earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors for the 2009 spring semester. Head coach Kate Roy recently received notification from Charlie Griffiths, NCAA Division III representative of the CSCAA.
To earn CSCAA Scholar All-America distinction, a team must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. The Nor'easters posted a 3.24 GPA last semester to qualify for the award for the 10th consecutive semester.
Roy was very pleased to hear her team was recognized for its academic achievement.
"Once again, the swimmers have achieved success as students in the classroom while succeeding in their role as athletes in the pool," said Roy. "I am more proud of 10 consecutive semesters on the Academic All American team than any of our athletic accolades."
The Nor'easters posted a 9-3 record in 2008-09 and placed sixth out of 22 teams at the New England Swimming and Diving Championships.
