Camire resigns as head softball coach at UNE

Charity Camire compiled a 46-27-1 record in her two seasons as head coach
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Charity Camire has resigned as head softball coach at the University of New England.  UNE Director of Athletics Kim Allen accepted Camire's resignation, effective May 15.

In her two seasons as head coach, Camire led the Nor'easters to an overall record of 46-27-1 during that period, including back-to-back The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament berths.  This past season, UNE posted a 22-13-1 mark and was seeded sixth for the TCCC Tournament.

"Charity is stepping aside for both personal and professional reasons," said Allen.  "In her two seasons as head coach, our program experienced a great deal of success.  We wish nothing but the best for Charity in the future."

A former standout pitcher at UNE, she compiled a 12-5 record with a 1.36 earned run average in two seasons, striking out 111 batters in 118 innings of work.  Her first season at UNE (2001) saw her post a 6-1 record and 0.86 ERA.
