Dan Letellier takes over as head softball coach after serving as an assistant coach in 2009
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Dan Letellier has been named head softball coach at the University of New England.  Director of Athletics Kim Allen made the formal announcement this afternoon (May 27).

Letellier was elevated from his position as assistant coach after helping guide the Nor'easters to a 22-13-1 record and berth into The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship.

Allen feels Letellier will make a smooth transition to the position of head coach.  "Dan has impressed us with his knowledge of the sport of softball, as well as with the rapport he was able to establish with our student-athletes," she said.  "We are confident he will make a seamless transition to head coach and lead our program to prominence within The Commonwealth Coast Conference."

A Biddeford native, Letellier possesses more than 15 years of coaching experience at various levels.  Prior to his time at UNE, he served as assistant softball coach at Biddeford High School, where he was part of two Western Maine Class A Championship teams.  He was head coach at Biddeford from 1997 thru 1999 and was selected Southern Maine Activities Association co-Coach of the Year in 1997.
