Nor'easters open season with Blue-White game

Brad Holt's team will open regular-season play next Friday versus Salve Regina University

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The Blue Team scored a pair of power-play goals in the third period to rally for a 3-3 tie in the annual Blue-White exhibition game played Friday evening at Biddeford Arena.

With their team trailing 3-1, junior Jack Nolin (Somersworth, N.H.) and first-year Ryne Lubert (Yorba Linda, Calif.) scored on the power play less than four minutes apart to knot the score at 3. Nolin's goal was unassisted, while first-years Brent Bourgeois (New Haven, Vt.) and Nick Cummings (Waltham, Mass.) assisted on Lubert's tally.

The Blue Team had jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period when Cummings set-up senior Todd Bartlett (Dover, N.H.) at 4:34.

The White Team scored twice in the second frame and once early in the third to establish a 3-1 advantage. 

Sophomore Mike Tiano (Dover, N.H.) got White on the board -- assisted by classmate Channing Tobey (Eliot, Maine) -- at 5:01 of the second, then sophomore Derek Dwyer (Newfields, N.H.) pushed White ahead at 9:42. First-year Bryan Hart (Dover, N.H.) and sophomore Justin Miner (Stratham, N.H.) were credited with assists on the play.

Miner notched an unassisted goal 3:43 into the third period to extend the White lead to 3-1.

White goaltenders Dallas Ungurian (Edmonton, Alberta) and Ben Blanchette (Allenstown, N.H.) combined to make 42 saves, while Mike Roper (New Glasgow, Nova Scotia) and Steve Scrivener (Frederick, Md.) totaled 31 stops for Blue.

The Nor'easters open their regular season next Friday (Nov. 13) when they host Salve Regina University at 7 p.m. That game can been seen live on the Web thru Nor'easter All-Access.
