Flagg chosen an all-American in field hockey

Senior Taryn Flagg capped her impressive career by earning third team all-America accolades

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England senior Taryn Flagg (Livermore Falls, Maine) has been named a Division III third team all-American by Longstreth and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

Flagg shattered virtually every UNE single-season and career record this season in helping lead the Nor'easters to a 16-3 record and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship.

She finished the campaign with 23 goals and 10 assists for a total of 56 points -- the 23 goals and 56 total points both being school records.  Flagg scored all three goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as UNE defeated Plymouth State in the ECAC title game.

Flagg completed her career as the program's leader in goals scored (51), assists (22) and total points (124).

"To be selected to an all-America team is something I have dreamed of happening since I first started playing field hockey," commented Flagg upon hearing the announcement. "I have put a lot of hard work and dedication into my sport and to have my play on the field rewarded with such a prestigious honor is the perfect end to a successful and historic season."

Flagg, the 2009 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year, was also chosen a Longstreth/NFHCA Division III New England East Region first team all-star.
