For the first time since joining the TCCC in 1999, a UNE runner won the individual title at the conference meet
BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England men's cross country runner
Matt Veiga (Lynn, Mass.) has been chosen The Commonwealth Coast Conference Runner of the Week for the period ending Nov. 1. TCCC Sports Information Coordinator Matt Pettinicchi made the announcement this afternoon.
The junior won the TCCC Championship Saturday in Springfield, Mass., clocking in with a time of 26:41. Finishing 27 seconds ahead to Salve's Mitch Leveille on the 8k course, he earned TCCC Runner of the Year honors for his effort. In the 11 years since UNE joined the conference, Veiga's win was the first time one of the Nor'easters took home the individual title.
